___ Summary of Meeting
1.Paperwork/approval for workshop attendance
· Forms back from Dr. Allen’s office, not always notified if we are approved to attend
· Need confirmation of approval.
· Form for employees to report what they learned at conference need for reimbursement- in Overnight Travel folder.
· Form 222 if employee is generating the request.
· Form 222 SD if administrator is generating the request for the employee to attend. (These forms are not in the same place.)
· Can forms be submitted electronically? Is there a way to indicate if employees have been approved to attend?
· On Intranet are conference attendance instructions- this is in the Overnight section of Travel and Conferences on the Intranet. 222 SD is in the Local folder and 222 is in the Overnight folder.
· For mileage reimbursement, does that have to be preapproved?
2.ACCESS PA workshop (regional meeting, browse aloud needs downloaded, full file replacement)
· Can there be a meeting where local librarians can attend the Allegheny County Region meets.
· No site on POWER Library that is easy for younger elementary students to use. A database that has more pictures may be useful for younger students.
3.Author visit
· FLES may have an author visit
· MLFE may have available money
· David Catrow (illustrator) and Kalli Dakos (poet) are being considered and have been contacted a few times.
· Patricia Polacco was also contacted but probably not available for this year.
· Megan McDonald was also discussed briefly.
4.Book budgets
· Larger libraries have a larger book budget. Smaller libraries more difficult to keep the collection updated and replace worn classics.

· Nancy will send an updated budget this week
· Bindery will be due mid-November
6.Field Trip to Library of Congress
· Waynesburg University now has a free course about searching primary documents on LOC website. Included with course are Act 48 credits and a free trip to the Library of Congress
7.Teaching Book letters for staff/parents
· TeachingBooks.net can be accessed for free if patrons have a Carnegie Library card or local branch card
· Continue to use and evaluate
8.“Skills letter” advocating librarian in each school
· Write to legislator supporting legislation that a certified school librarian in every school.
· Sample letters on ALA website

· PSLA Attendance: Discussion about the rotation about who can attend. Equity among the elementary and secondary librarians attending. Can they be combined into one pool so that elementary librarians can attend more regularly (not once every 7 years)?
· December Meeting with Public Librarians: December 4th at Washington Elementary. Agenda items discussed.
